The existing building corresponds to a three-story single-family residential home built in the 1980s. The architectural remodeling proposal consists of expanding the useful space of the home by integrating the new volume into the existing building while maintaining some characteristics of the original project, such as the tongue-and-groove ceiling. gabled and part of the façade. Additionally, the project includes the construction of a swimming pool with a platform (deck) in the rear garden.
The existing structure was investigated and the existing configuration was documented based on the original documents of the house, site visits and tests that served to validate the resistance indicated in the original construction documents. The structure of the original project was made of reinforced concrete with a regular geometry in the plan.
The ground floor has a solid slab supported on the brace beams, the first and second levels are made up of a slab ribbed in one direction and the roof is gabled with a wooden tongue and groove. The feasibility study for the work determined the use of micropiles, due to the intricate access for the execution of the work.

The existing building was evaluated through a dynamic spectral analysis assuming elastic behavior to verify compliance with current regulations. For the mezzanines of the new areas, the columns were placed on the orthogonal lines of the existing project, and a beam was designed to support composite composite slabs.
Shear connections were designed from the metal structure of the new areas to the existing structure, and a seismic joint between both buildings. A metal structure platform was designed to support the corresponding area around the pool where a wooden platform will be placed. The pool is made up of a solid concrete slab and a perimeter wall supported on beams. A system of deep foundations consisting of micropiles was adopted. |
