The existing building corresponds to a two-story single-family residential home made of reinforced concrete built in 1964. The remodeling proposal consists of removing the gable roof and replacing it with several straight roofs at higher heights. The expansion of the surface of the house is developed through the extension of the roof, constituting a double-height atrium.
The existing structure was investigated, and the present configuration was documented based on the original documents of the house, site visits and tests that served to validate the resistance indicated in the original construction documents.
The architectural project involves the demolition of the central section of the second level slab, so the building is divided into two modules, joined by articulated metal beams where the stairs reach.
A set of direct foundations is adopted for the new steel columns that are part of the expansion areas.
