The remodeling of Casa Vistavalle consists of the construction of a cantilevered pool, a terrace and a multipurpose area. Said construction is to be carried out in the existing garden corresponding to the main home.
The land where the garden is located and specified for the new construction is part of a landfill for several residences in the urbanization, and is delimited by a retaining wall. The feasibility study for the work determined the use of micropiles, due to the intricate access for the execution of the work. Additionally, an evaluation of the retaining wall was carried out based on the new overloads not stipulated in its original design. Minimum distances were specified in which the loads should not be applied, which led to the pool, terrace and multipurpose room having an overhang of three meters.
An orthogonal system of reinforced concrete porticos was created for the area corresponding to the pool, terrace and planters.
The pool is supported on four columns from which projecting beams emerge that support the terrace and part of the planters.
Under the service conditions, the governing design parameters were the limitation of the generation of cracks so that leaks were not generated.
The structure is separated from the existing building through a 5 cm joint.
The area corresponding to multiple uses is made up of metal structure trusses, which are supported on the headers, and on which there will be a composite composite slab, in order to reduce the weight in this sector, as it is closer to the edge of the fill slope.
As recommended by the geotechnical study, a system of deep foundations of micropiles made up of steel tubes from the oil series and with a diameter of 4.5 inches was adopted, which were grouped according to the quantity necessary to resist the applied loads.
Each group of pilings is embedded in solid ground for a distance of at least 3 m and at their upper end joined by rigid heads, which in turn are joined by an orthogonal system of strut beams.
